Week 10: Texas at Texas Tech Prediction
Well guys, we can't win 'em all. Unfortunately, the game has us losing today, 23-16. I for one do not believe that will happen. Basically, the only good things that happened were a touchdown by Eric Stephens and two picks by Corn Dog. PROVE THE GAME WRONG RAIDERS! Wreck 'em.

Week 9: Texas Tech at Kansas State Prediction
Well folks, it's that time again. Time to keep riding the wave. According to NCAA, Tech takes care of business yet again, dismantling Kansas State, 41-14.
Seth Doege completed 19 of 39 passes for 366 yards, 4 touchdowns, and only one pick. Eric Stephens got the job done today, both running and catching the ball. He had 8 carries for 55 yards to go along with 6 receptions for 97 yards. Eric Ward continued his streak of dominance, catching 4 passes for 98 yards and 2 touchdowns. Darrin Moore added 4 receptions for 71 yards.
The defense played salty today, forcing 7 turnovers and holding K State to only 14 points. Cody Davis had 2 picks, including a pick 6, and a forced fumble. Terrance Bullitt also forced a fumble and had 2 picks. Tre Porter forced a fumble and had 8 tackles.

Week 8: Texas Tech at TCU Prediction
Well guys, did NCAA call it or what in regards to the win over West Virginia. Boo ya. On to the next one.
Tech wins this one 37-28. Doege had a bit of a rough day, only completing 19-44, but gained 282 yards through the air, with 3 touchdowns and only one interception. Eric Stephens led the backfield with 15 carries for 85 yards. Kenny Williams added 9 carries for 50 yards and a touchdown. Eric Ward had another great game, hauling in 7 passes for 102 yards and 3 touchdowns. Kicker Ryan Bustin also had a good game, hitting all 3 of his field goal attempts.
The defense was great once again, allowing only 28 points, but forcing 3 turnovers. Corn Dog and Cody Davis both had picks and Terrance Bullitt forced a fumble, helping Tech get its 6th (supposed to be 7th) win of the year.
And the Victory Bells Will Ring Out!

Week 7: West Virginia at Texas Tech Prediction
Guys, I'm sorry. I put last week's loss against OU all on me. I didn't get to post my prediction last week. Had I done that, Tech would've known that they were supposed to win 49-35. Also, I didn't wear my lucky tech polo last weekend, further damaging Tech's chances to win the game.
Alas, here I am, Tech polo on, posting my prediction for the WVU/Tech game.
Tech wins this game 31-29. It was a grind, but Tech gets it done, mostly in part to the 4 turnovers forced by their defense. Seth Doege goes 18-31 for 306 yards, with 3 touchdowns and 2 picks. Jace Amaro catches 4 passes for 77 yards and a touchdown. Bradley Marquez added 104 reception yards and Eric Stephens caught 6 passes out of the backfield for 79 yards and 2 touchdowns. It was a tough day for the running game, but Kenny Williams gains 16 yards and finds paydirt once.
The defense was stellar, allowing only 29 points, but forcing 4 turnovers. Bruce Jones gets a pick and D.J. Johnson, Sam Eguavoen, and Cody Davis all forced fumbles, helping Tech get its 5th (supposed to be 6th) win of the year.

Week 5: Texas Tech at Iowa State Prediction
After a long two weeks, we're back in action! Sorry about the lack of prediction for the Tech - New Mexico game, but let's be real, did we expect anything other than the final result? This week, Tech takes on Iowa State in Ames, Iowa. Here's what NCAA thinks is going to happen:
Texas Tech Iowa State
Final Score: 52 38
Total Offense: 481 432
Rushing Yards: 83 141
Passing Yards: 398 291
Third Down Conv: 9-13 7-15
Turnovers: 5 4
Texas Tech wins this one in ugly fashion. Tech QB Seth Doege goes 24-39 passing for 398 yards, with 3 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. RB Eric Stephens had 8 carries for 33 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Kenny Williams added 4 carries for 24 yards and a score.
Tech wideout, Eric Ward, had a monster game, hauling in 9 catches for 215 yards, including a 69 yard touchdown catch. Bradley Marquez had 5 catches for 75 yards and a touchdown, Darrin Moore had 4 catches for 40 yards, and Javon Bell added 3 catches for 39 yards and a score.
Tech's defense employed a bend but not break strategy. Linebackers Will Smith and Terrance Bullitt, as well as cornerback Cornelius Douglas, all had interceptions. Bullitt also forced and recovered a fumble, giving Iowa State 4 turnovers. Like I said, Tech wins, but it ain't pretty. Guns up!

Mid-Week Schmorgesborg
Slumping on Hump Day? Here's something to occupy your attention span for the next few minutes.
NCAA Predictions vs. Actual Results
First, let's see how my NCAA predictions stacked up with the actual first two games Texas Tech has played.
Week 1
Prediction: Northwestern State - 3, Texas Tech - 42
Actual: Northwestern State - 6, Texas Tech - 44
Only a 5 point difference? Not too bad, NCAA.
Week 2
Prediction: Texas Tech - 62, Texas State - 14
Actual: Texas Tech - 58, Texas State - 10
I consider any point difference under 10 is pretty darn good for a prediction.
Ohhhh, Billy
The situation between Billy Gillispie and Texas Tech can be summed up with a simple picture:
You're hot, then you're cold...
This is essentially the song I sing in my head anytime I look at how the Braves are doing. For some reason, the Braves offense and pitching can never get in sync. In fact, the Braves' bats have been all but silent these past 10 games, scoring more than 3 runs in a game only 3 times, yet the team still won 7 out of those 10 games. This has been due in large part to a rested dominant bullpen and starting pitching that has been able to go more than 5 innings per game. The one game wildcard playoff system freaks me out, but my worry has subsided slightly with the coming out party of this former shortstop/middle reliever/starter/Tommy John recipient/middle reliever, now stud ace.
Finally, the team you all care about..
The Medulla Amendola's ( yes, my fantasy football team) are 1-0 on the season with a 104-75 drubbing of the Devin Calhoun's. If you wonder about my success, all you have to do is look at the hairstyle of choice for most of my players. Then you will know.
That's all I've got for this week. Until next time, stay classy.

Week 2: Texas Tech at Texas State Prediction
Well, Texas Tech has started things right and now sits at 1-0 on the season. They roll into Texas State and take care of business, racking up a staggering 653 yards of total offense en route to a 62-14 drubbing of Texas State. Senior QB Seth Doege goes 26 for 34, passing for 324 yards and 6 TD's.
Sophomore running back Kenny Williams delivered the rushing payload with 18 carries for 134 yards and a touchdown. Senior Eric Stephens added 4 carries for 28 yards, but also had 8 receptions for 69 yards and 3 touchdowns.
The receiving corps was led by both Eric Ward and Bradley Marquez. Ward had 6 receptions for 159 yards and a score, while Marquez had 3 receptions for 117 yards and 2 TD's. Darrin Moore added 5 receptions of his own for 42 yards and a touchdown and Javon Bell added 4 receptions for 35 yards.
Tech's defense allowed 101 yards on the ground and 228 yards through the air, but were effective in only allowing Texas State to score a touchdown in the first and fourth quarters. Cornerback Eugene Neboh had his first interception of the year and linebacker Will Smith forced a fumble, giving Texas Tech its first two turnovers of the season. Tech is now 2-0 on the season. Guns up!

Week 1, Texas Tech vs. Northwestern State Prediction
Hello everyone,
Football season is here! And with that, sports blogging becomes relevant again. Something I'm going to do this year is have predictions for this season. However, I'm lazy, so I decided to simulate the entire season on NCAA football and use those results as the basis for my predictions. Here is a recap prediction for today's game between Texas Tech and Northwestern State:
Final Score: Texas Tech: 42, Northwestern State 3
Tech's offensive reputation for being prolific was preserved in this game, as Doege and co. racked up 453 yards of total offense. Doege led the way, going 26 for 31 passing for 321 yards and 4 touchdowns, as well as adding a rushing touchdown. Eric Stephens, who showed no signs of a knee injury, led all running backs, rushing 8 times for 75 yards and a score, as well as contributing 4 receptions for 52 yards. Sophomore running back Kenny Williams added 7 attempts for 40 yards and a reception for 11 yards.
Eric Ward led the receiving corps to the tune of 9 receptions for 130 yards and a touchdown. Darrin Moore added 8 receptions for 59 yards and 2 touchdowns. Newcomer, JUCO transfer Javon Bell, showed some flashes with 2 receptions for 62 yards. The defense, eager to prove that last season was a fluke, stifled the Northwestern State offense, allowing only 3 points in mop up duty. It was a good start for Tommy Tuberville's squad as they look to forget last season and start a new bowl streak this year. Guns up!

Your Fantasy Football Picks 2012
After shedding many tears over getting slighted by Grantland's Fantasy Football Staff Writer Contest, I felt that the gem me and Ross wrote was too good not to publish. Heed our advice wisely and you will succeed in fantasy football...and life, which we both know is fantasy football...
First, let me start off by asking if your league is PPR.
Second, let me inform you that it doesn’t matter. Stats are for scrubs.
1.
Aaron Rodgers – HE’S NO BRETT FAVRE!! However,
let me explain. First, Green Bay possesses arguably the best not-tatted-up O-Line
in the league. I thought every offensive lineman’s contract included a copious
bicep tattoo clause, but Green Bay has once again proved me wrong. Second, Rodgers
basically has a potato gun surgically attached to his arm calibrated to shoot
out footballs. Lucky for you, this is technically not a banned performance
enhancing substance…yet. Last, and most important, have you seen this dude’s girlfriend?
If she’s jumping on the Aaron Rodgers train, I think we’d be wise to follow her.
2.
Julio Jones – There’s no doubt about it, this man
is just a freak athlete. The only logical explanation for his athleticism is his
hairstyle. That’s right, I’m talking about the dreads. If you’ve ever read the
story of Samson then you will know that this is more than just a theory. Plus, with
his P.I.C. Roddy White pimp slapping cornerbacks on the other side, look for
Jones to have plenty of opportunities to catch the ball and do what he does
best: intimidate defensive backs into letting him score touchdowns.
3.
Chris Johnson – It is frightening to think that
Chris Johnson’s worst season of his career was still a 1,000-yard performance.
With a full offseason, no contract disputes, and fighting words for Usain Bolt,
expect Chris Johnson and his dreadlocks to bounce back in very a big way. This
isn’t just me making these predictions people, it’s science. In the words of Paul Wall, Chris
Johnson (as a result of his grill),“might cause a cold front if he takes a deep
breath.” Gold Teeth = Cold Teeth. Cold Teeth = Touchdowns. Gold Teeth =
Touchdowns. It’s the transitive
property.
4.
Ray Rice – With every pattern, there’s always an
exception. Ray Rice is that exception. Although he doesn’t sport the magical dreadlocks,
his forearm tattoos do tell us that he is the “Gifted One” in Old English
letters, and I tend to believe them. He is a great rusher. Plus, he has the
added value of catching the ball out of the backfield. Rice was second among
running backs in total TDs last season with fifteen. Look for him to improve on
that number this year, because if you’re not first, you’re last.
5.
Wes Welker – If you are unable to grow
dreadlocks or get tattoos to enhance your playmaking ability, the next best
thing is to follow the footsteps of your quarterback and find a very attractive
wife . I’m sure she has a great personality too. Anyway, Welker has caused
5’ 9” shifty white guys the world over to dream that they too can play in the
NFL one day. While most of his YouTube highlight videos are set to angry Linkin
Park-esque music he also has one set to the tune of the Gym Class Heroes,
further displaying his versatility. With free agency looming, expect a statistical tour de force
so intense that it will make you want to pee/possibly poop your pants…and not
even care.
6.
Sleeper: Cedric Benson – Entering his 8th
season in the NFL one would hardly expect Cedric Benson to do much this year.
However, what the Packers truly get is a running back that has proven his worth
recently with 1,000-yard seasons (dreadlocks), health, and some off-field
antics worthy of a few headlines. When he’s not too busy reclaiming
his “stolen” TV,
he’ll be busy scoring touchdowns. With a stacked offensive line, dangerous
receivers, and Mr. Discount Double Check running the show, look for Benson to
find lanes large enough to drive a truck through. Like a semi-tuck, not just
one of those little Ford Rangers.
